Frowning Fannie

I bought this tintype of a little girl at a street fair last year. I'm thinking the photo was taken in the 1880's, maybe? I also bought one of a little boy about her age. Why didn't anyone smile back in those days? Was having your picture taken a really bad thing? I know some cultures believe that if they're photographed they lose their soul. Ah ha! So now we know why models and actors are often called "soul-less morons"! I did a little photo-editing of the image to make it look like it went through a few wash cycles. Of course I really didn't need to do that since it really IS old. (And don't get all clever on me with "who's the soul-less MORON", hmmmmm?).
